Senator Trish Crossin welcomed the opening today, by Member for Solomon Damian Hale, of a new trade training centre at Marrara Christian College.

"This centre is one of many being provided by the Rudd Government as part of the Education Revolution and allows schools to combine their resources to provide trades super centres."

"I congratulate Marrara Christian School on this wonderful new facility and am confident that it will contribute to the success of many students in the selected trades and giving then the skills they need to get jobs tomorrow."

"However, it is worth noting that if it were not for this Rudd Government program, this facility would not be here today. The Opposition has clearly signalled that were they to win government then they would cut out the Trade Training Centre Program."

"Phoney Tony would make this yet another of the programs his government would remove, to the detriment of our young people - the potential skilled tradespeople of the future."

Senator Crossin said, "Parents should be worried about the risks to their kids and the nation\'s future if Mr Abbott is elected."

"Every cancelled Trade Training Centre would mean scores of kids would not be able to get the head start towards a trade that they are able to get under the Rudd Government."

"Today would be the ideal time for Natasha Griggs, a phoney Tony candidate, to explain to the people of Solomon why she supports gutting this program and putting their trade careers at risk."

"For 11 long years the Coalition in Government neglected trade training, and clearly they would do so again if in Government."

"Under this Trade Training Centre program 42 schools are already delivering new trade qualifications with more coming on line all the time. Marrara is just the latest of these and is proof that the Rudd Government\'s Education Revolution is already making a huge difference."
