Labor Senator Trish Crossin has welcomed Prime Minister Gillard's announcement that the Federal Election will be held on August 21.

This will be the fifth federal election in which I have been a candidate for the ALP and I am confident that under Labor we will continue to build the Territory and move forward.

The Territory has sustained a strong economy with money invested in infrastructure, modernising schools, health initiatives and training for jobs.

The choice for voters is clear. Under Labor we are committed to moving Australia forward while Tony Abbott will take us backwards.

Under Labor we will keep the economy strong and bring the budget to surplus within three years.

Under Tony Abbott all you ever hear is talk of cuts: to services, health, education and opposing tax cuts for small business and increases superannuation for workers.

The only things that you can believe of Tony Abbott is when he is being honest about lying: his written rather than his verbal promises.....

Today Tony Abbott said Workchoices was "cremated" yet he wants to bring back flexibility in the workplace. The real truth is that the worst elements of Work Choices will be resurrected if he becomes PM.

A Gillard Government is committed to strengthening our borders and has a policy to deal with asylum seekers that puts Australia's interests first.

We have a plan for Northern Australia including investing record amounts in solar and other renewable energy sources.

We have also invested in health, education, housing and job creation for Indigenous Territorians and will continue to work together to improve their education and health outcomes.

Senator Crossin said "It is important that you have your say on election day so your enrolment needs to be up to date. To assist people in Palmerston and the Rural area to do this my office will be open SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND TILL 6pm EVERY NIGHT TILL THURSDAY.

REMEMBER THAT YOU HAVE UNTIL 8pm MONDAY 19th JULY TO GET ON THE ELECTORAL ROLL and till 8PM THURSDAY 22 JULY TO UPDATE YOUR ENROLMENT DETAILS.
