The Senator for Northern Territory, Trish Crossin today launched a new mobile training van in the Northern Territory that will provide improved vocational education and training for media students.
The Australian Government provided $100 000 for purchase of the van and to fit out with broadcasting equipment. The Northern Territory Government contributed $50 000 towards the van and fit out.
The funds enabled the Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education to purchase a van and broadcasting equipment, which will assist with remote training in broadcasting and media.
Senator Crossin said the facilities will allow for training at the Certificate III levels in Media - Radio, Film and TV.
"The new mobile training van will help Batchelor Institute to almost double the number of students undertaking courses in Media ," she said.
The funds were provided under the Australian Government's Major Capital component of the National Training Infrastructure (NTI) program.
The NTI program provides funding for the purchase, construction, fit-out or refurbishment of facilities intended to deliver accredited vocational education and training.
Major Capital projects, such as the National Training Infrastructure (NTI) program, are part of the Australian Government's commitment to the development of a skilled Australia.
